About us
We are a farming operation situated in the Elands River Valley, in the Eastern Cape, which is situated in the UNESCO Floral Kingdom of the Baviaans Kloof protected Mega-reserve, having the highest floral biodiversity in the world for non-tropical flora.
As beekeepers, the longevity and durability of our beehives, has always been of concern, especially due to regular hive attacks from baboons and honey badgers, in our area. This has forced us to branch into our own beehive manufacturing operation, using improved construction techniques, such as using finger jointed hives, using only the highest quality waterproof glue.
Much research was done on hot dipping of hives, using specially formulated micro-crystalline wax. Although more costly and time consuming than conventional methods, the results have been good.
